Christian Counseling in Wexford, PA

Christ-centered, clinically excellent counseling for individuals, couples, and families across Wexford, Cranberry, and the North Hills of Pittsburgh. Work with licensed therapists who weave faith and evidence-based care together — whenever you want it, and never when you don't.

What is Christian counseling?

Christian counseling is professional, evidence-based therapy provided by licensed clinicians who also share your faith — and who are free to bring prayer, Scripture, and a Christian understanding of the human person into the work when you invite them to. Some call it Christian therapy or faith-based counseling; whatever the name, it's the same compassionate, clinically excellent care, delivered within a Christian framework.

At Clarity, it is not a watered-down version of therapy, and it is not a Bible study with a clinical label. You receive the same proven methods we use with every client — CBT, EMDR, the Gottman Method, DBT, trauma-informed care — delivered by a therapist who understands that your relationship with God, your sense of identity, and your hope for the future are not side issues. For many people, they are the very ground that healing is built on.

You set the terms. Some clients want prayer in every session; others want their faith quietly honored in the background. Both are welcome, and both receive excellent care.

What Christian counseling can help with

The same struggles that bring anyone to therapy — approached with both clinical skill and an understanding of faith.

Anxiety & Worry

Practical, evidence-based tools for an anxious mind — paired, when you want it, with the peace and perspective that faith can bring to fear.

Depression & Hopelessness

Compassionate care for the weight of depression, holding both the clinical reality and the truth that you are seen, valued, and not alone.

Marriage & Relationships

Christian marriage and premarital counseling rooted in the Gottman Method — rebuilding trust, communication, and connection on a foundation of shared values.

Grief & Loss

A safe place to mourn honestly, where faith and grief are allowed to live in the same room and lament is treated as part of healing, not a failure of it.

Shame, Guilt & Identity

Untangling the lies of shame from the truth of who you are — loved, forgiven, and made for more than your worst moments.

Trauma & Healing

Trauma-informed treatment including EMDR, offered by clinicians who can hold space for the spiritual questions trauma so often raises.

How Christian counseling works: renewing the mind

At the heart of our approach is a simple pairing: proven, evidence-based therapy — especially cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) — alongside the truth of Scripture. CBT rests on a straightforward insight: how you think shapes how you feel and how you act. Change the thought, and the feelings and behaviors often follow. Scripture said it long before psychology did: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).

So together, we learn to notice the automatic negative thoughts and old lies that quietly run in the background — the ones that whisper I’m not enough, I’m unlovable, I’ll always fail — and, as 2 Corinthians 10:5 puts it, we “take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” We don’t just argue with those thoughts; we replace them with what is actually true.

Because at Clarity, we believe truth supersedes facts. It may be a fact that you were neglected, hurt, or told you weren’t enough. But the deeper Truth is that you are loved, worthy, fearfully and wonderfully made, and “more than a conqueror.” Much of the work is helping you become fully persuaded of who God says you are — and letting that reshape how you see your past, your present, and your future.

In practice, that looks like building a kinder inner dialogue rooted in God’s Word (“life and death are in the power of the tongue” — Proverbs 18:21), using Scripture, readings, and small behavioral steps as between-session practice (“faith comes by hearing” — Romans 10:17), and, when there is past trauma, gently processing it through a Christian lens — so you can look at your story, learn from it, and finally let it go.

What God says about you

When the old narrative gets loud, these are some of the truths we return to — and help you truly believe.

“In all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

Romans 8:37

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you.”

Isaiah 41:10

“God gave us a spirit not of fear, but of power and love and self-discipline.”

2 Timothy 1:7

“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.”

Philippians 1:6

“There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.”

Romans 8:1

“They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles.”

Isaiah 40:31

Is Christian counseling right for you?

It may be a good fit if you'd like a therapist who understands your faith without you having to explain or defend it — someone who can pray with you, reference Scripture meaningfully, and treat your spiritual life as part of the picture rather than something to manage around.

And if you are not a person of faith? You are still genuinely welcome. Many of our clients are not Christians and receive excellent, completely clinical care. Faith is offered, never imposed — just tell us on your first call and spiritual content will be set aside entirely.

Christian counseling, answered

Is Christian counseling still real, evidence-based therapy?
Yes. Our Christian counseling is provided by fully licensed clinicians using the same proven, evidence-based methods — CBT, EMDR, the Gottman Method, DBT, and trauma-informed care — that we use with every client. Faith is integrated alongside excellent clinical work, never in place of it.
Do I have to be a Christian to come?
Not at all. Many of our clients are not people of faith and receive outstanding, fully clinical care. Christian integration is always available on request and never imposed — if you'd prefer spiritual content set aside, simply say so and it will be.
Will you pray or use Scripture in our sessions?
Only if you want us to. If you'd like to open or close in prayer, or have Scripture brought into the work, just ask — your clinician will follow your lead. Some clients want faith woven through every session; others prefer it quietly in the background. You set the level.
Do you offer Christian marriage and premarital counseling?
Yes. We provide Christian marriage and premarital counseling rooted in the Gottman Method, helping couples rebuild trust, communication, and connection on a foundation of shared faith and values.
Where are you located, and do you offer telehealth?
Our office is at 6400 Brooktree Court, Suite 320, Wexford, PA 15090 — serving Wexford, Cranberry, Gibsonia, and the greater North Hills of Pittsburgh. We also offer secure telehealth for clients anywhere in Pennsylvania. See our Location page for details.
